Meal Planning 101

It's Sunday and this is my day to get sh-- done. First thing I do, is meal plan. I do this so I know there's a plan for each night of the week and I don't have to worry about it each day. It also saves me money and time because I don't have to go to the store multiple times or resort to eating out.

Here's how I do it:

1. Write out the days of the week we plan to eat in on top of my grocery list. For us, it's usually Sunday-Friday. I take into account carpool days, sports times, etc. to determine if it should be a crock pot meal that can be ready at different times or a quick get-em-fed meal.

2. Grab cookbooks or go online for recipe inspiration. Right now I'm using the Whole 30 cookbooks or look up ideas on Pinterest. They're simple and easy to make. I also like Real Simple.

3. Make a grocery list. This includes all our basics plus any ingredients for the meals I plan to make each night.

4. I order my groceries online and pick up later that day. This saves me so much time and aggravation it's totally worth the $4.95 fee. I can't recommend it enough.

Now I have a plan and it's one less thing I have to think about this week. Whew!

Go to it!
